The red dots are historical Japanese American farms, and the green dots are farms that are still functioning.

Take a look at how Japanese American farms are connected - each farm is linked to the main crops they grew. The color of the farm differs based on the region it was located in. For example, farms in Orange County are colored orange, farms in Los Angeles County are colored blue, and farms on Vashon Island are colored aqua.

We can see clustering in the top left section of the network, as well as a lot of overlap between the farms and crops they grow. Many of these nodes are colored orange, meaning they are located in Orange County. This highlights how many farms across Orange County grew a lot of the same crops. The blue nodes from Los Angeles County are scattered throughout, which would make sense geographically as LA County borders OC.

Based on the farms we currently have data for, strawberries were the #1 most-grown crop. Many farms that grew strawberries are not connected to any other nodes. This suggests that the farms that grew strawberries specialized in it and didn't grow a ton of other crops. Tomatoes were the #2 most-grown crop. Many farms that grew tomatoes are connected to several other nodes. This may suggest that tomatoes, as a seasonal summer crop, may have just been in the rotation along with other crops.
